Where To Find Barrier Free, All-Inclusive Playgrounds In Metro Detroit

Everyone deserves to have fun and all-inclusive, playgrounds allow for kids of all ages and abilities to have fun TOGETHER! If you are looking for accessible, inclusive and barrier free playgrounds, here’s where to go in southeast Michigan.
Scarlet’s Playground (Commerce)
Scarlet’s Playground offers 18,000 square feet of all-inclusive fun for kids of all ages and abilities.From big slides to bouncing rides and rainbow tunnels. Kids can make music, climb high, ride the zip lines and race around the merry-go-rounds.

River Bends Park (Shelby Township)
The playground sits on a rubberized surface allows for better accessibility to wheelchairs and walkers while providing a safe area for all ages to play on the Global Motion, the Sway Glider, the OmniSpin Spinner, the Roller Table, the Friendship Swing and the ZipKrooz. There is also an array of musical instruments for kids to enjoy.

Gallup Park is a hidden oasis in Ann Arbor and the nature themed playground fits into the peaceful backdrop. Specific accessible playground features include a water/sand play area, a sensory garden, adaptive swings and moving play activities such as whirl and spring riders with back supports.

McKinley Barrier-Free Park features a “Walk and Roll” path, pavilion, comfort station, toddler sand lot, benches, play structures, and a parking lot – all accessible by people with special challenges.

Livonia’s largest and most popular playground, Rotary Park is a universally accessible playground featuring slides, swings and musical equipment for kids of all abilities. The playground sits next to a paved walking trail.

Friendship Park (Orion Township)
Friendship Park in Orion Township features two ADA accesible playgrounds, the Dragon Den and Let Them Play. Let Them Play is 100% wheelchair accesible.

This universally accessible playground has exciting features for kids of all abilities. A swing for wheelchairs, hammock swings, and a few sliding options.
