Walk, Ride, or Play on Hines Drive during Summer Saturdays

Pull out your bikes, strollers, and scooters and head to Hines Drive for Saturday morning recreation at Hines Drive in Westland. Wayne County Parks’ popular Saturday in the Park program is back for 2022.
Start your weekend off right and spend time outside exploring the 6 mile thoroughfare at Hines Drive. Every Saturday from May 7th to September 24th will see the 6 Miles from Nankin Mills to Outer Drive closed to the public allowing for safe open street usage by pedestrians and cyclists. It’s the perfect place to meet up with friends, teach your kids to bike or simple soak up the sun. Parking is available at Nankin Mills (33325 Edward N Hines Dr, Westland, MI 48185).
What To Do:
If you want to add a couple extra activities to your walk, run, stroll, scoot or ride, here are some sites to check out along the way.
- Playgrounds: Nankin Mills Recreation Area + Merriman Hallow (1 mile from Nankin Mills) + Perrin Recreation Area (3.4 miles from Nankin Mills)
- Bike Tracks: Littles will love the dirt + pump bike tracks at Hawthorne Ridge Recreation Area (1 mile from Nankin Mills)
- Fishing: Check out the new fishing spot at Nankin Lake Dam, slight north of the Nankin Mills Recreation Area
- Nankin Mills Interpretive Center: The Center is a great place for FREE hands-on fun and learning. See live reptiles, birds and turtles on the first floor exhibit and head upstairs to learn about the history of the Mill and its relation to Henry Ford. The Center is currently closed to the public but will have outdoor demonstrations on select Saturdays.
Saturday In The Park is weekly from 9am to 3:30pm, May 7th to September 24th.
Save the Date: LittleGuide Detroit’s Stroller Roll returns to Hines Drive on Saturday, July 16th!
