Make a quick fall trip to Plymouth Orchards for seasonal fun in all one place.

 

Plymouth Orchards is a great fall destination for families. It’s open daily and easy to navigate. The large parking lot has plenty of space and it’s easy to enter and take pictures of your kids in painted cutouts. Afterwards, you can cross the bridge to the kid area to visit with animals (pigs, goats and chicken) and climb on tractors – entry is free. If your kids want to go on a moving ride, get tickets for the tractor to take you through the field.

 

Don’t leave before stopping into the store for cider, donuts, apples and other fall treats.

 

Starting October 1st visitors can also pick pumpkins! Large pumpkins are 40 cents a pound and pie pumpkins are $3.50 each.

After a multi-year closure the Belle Isle Nature Center is back and better than ever!

 

The Belle Isle Nature Center is one of our favorite FREE destinations in metro Detroit and with state-of-the-art updates, your littles will love it. From the minute you enter, kids will be excited to explore. Animal lovers will rush to the turtle pond and more active kids will crawl through the tunnels where they can pretend to be ants hard at work collecting and storing food.

Beacon Park Hosts Hocus Pocus Showing & Cider In The City

Get into the spirit of fall at Beacon Park in October with two unique festive events. 

 

Watch your favorite Halloween movie like never before – Beacon Park will host a Shadow Cast performance of Hocus Pocus on October 7th and 8th at 7pm. The Ibis Theater will transport audiences to Salem on All Hallows Eve, where they will meet the infamous Sanderson Sisters and their brooding band of characters. A shadow cast is an ensemble of artists that act out the movie while it is playing; often times dancing and singing live. They also serve as the catalysts for the audience cues to participate in callbacks and use their props.This is a FREE family-friendly event and guests are encouraged to dress in their favorite Hocus Pocus or Halloween costume. 

 

Cider In The City returns on Saturdays and Sundays October 15th to 23rd from 1pm to 5pm. Families can enjoy seasonal activities including crafts and face painting, horse-drawn hayrides around downtown Detroit, live music, and picking out the perfect pumpkin.

 

You will also find sweet treats from Blake Farms – cider, donuts, apples and pumpkins – you can buy during your visit or place your order in advance.

National Fire Prevention Week is October 9th – 15th and across the country fire stations are opening their doors to let families see their equipment and learn about fire safety. The Michigan Firehouse Museum is a three level, hands-on museum for firetruck admirers of all ages. On the ground floor guests can hop on a vintage truck and admire many more. Both kids and adults can sit in the body of a firetruck and use lights and sirens while pretending to drive. On the second floor you’ll find fire prevention memorbilia, vintage firetruck toys, a short video and explore the living quarters of the former fire station. In the basement, there is a children’s play area with puzzles, books, dress up clothes and a Bert & Ernie ride.

Start a new holiday tradition and take a walk down Tillson Street in Romeo this Halloween season.

 

Throughout the month of October the houses on Tillson Street in Romeo are elaborately decorated for Halloween. Visit during the day or get a  fright at night and admire the spooktacular Halloween displays. Each year thousands of people flock to the neighborhood and on Halloween night from 6pm to 8pm kids can come out for trick or treating.

 

Where to park: Street parking is available and Croswell Elementary School (175 Croswell St, Romeo, MI 48065) has a parking lot and is located 1 block away from Tillson St.

 

Where to eat: Grab a bite to eat in downtown Romeo and check out one of these popular family-friendly restaurants.

 

Another place to check out nearby is Frontier Town! The shopping center has home goods and clothing stores, restaurants and ice cream! Plan your visit for Saturday, October 15th for their free Trunk or Treat event happening from 1pm to 3pm.
