With so many Halloween events in Metro Detroit, there’s plenty of opportunity to get good use out of those Halloween costumes and start collecting candy for the ‘kids’ at a trick or treat event around town.  

 

ZOO BOO

Multiple weekends: October 5-7 • 12-14 • 19-21

@ Detroit Zoo,  Royal Oak

Exhilarating live entertainment awaits your costume-clad little ones, including dazzling and daring acrobatics, magic acts, jugglers, story tellers, live music and extreme pumpkin carving demonstrations. Be sure to stop by the Haunted Reptile House and visit the ghosts and goblins that have made the Holden Reptile Conservation Center their home for the season. Make friends with other haunted creatures and enjoy the fabulous Halloween displays along the “unlucky” 13-station trick-or-treat trail.

Take a guided night hike to meet our “not-so-scary” and “sort-of-silly” nature characters and receive Halloween prizes and treats! The outdoor hike for ages 4 and older is about 45 minutes, followed by an indoor live animal show to meet creatures from around the world.

Dust off the box of costumes, grab yourself an orange pumpkin to hold some candy, and get ready boys and girls because our favorite fundraiser, The Halloween Hoot, will be creeping onto our trails within the next few full moons. Once complete we venture out into the woods, the evening time slots being illuminated by candles, for several skits, games and interactive stories put on my volunteers, local theater groups, and Dinosaur Hill staff members! Once you emerge from the woods you will find yourself amongst our Halloween Carnival and will be able to win fabulous prizes for competing in games.

A roaming live magician will stroll the street to amaze little ones and their parents with his sleight of hand. The first 200 children carve pumpkins that will line the Hoot Trail. (Pumpkins can be picked up after 8:00 p.m. that night or before noon the next day to take home). Children in costume Trick or Treat along the Hoot Trail through the woods, but must be accompanied by an adult. Storytellers, cider and cookies are available in the pavilion.

Join Brighton Community Ed, the Downtown Development Authority, and the Brighton Fire Department on October 31st for the Annual Tridge-or-Treat Halloween Spooktacular at the Millpond! This FREE event will take place in downtown Brighton near Main Street at the Millpond. Kids will follow a fun-filled decorated route along the tridge and past the spooky cemetery to collect candy from their favorite characters. Fun for all ages!!
