It’s Mother’s Day weekend and there are lots of ways to celebrate with your littles.

DOOM OF THE DINOSAURS EXHIBIT

March 15 – September 1

@ Cranbrook Institute of Science, Bloomfield Hills

The temporary Doom of the Dinosaurs exhibition allows visitors to view the impressive fossil casts of the last known dinosaurs to roam Earth, including the Tyrannosaurus Rex and Edmontosaurus. The dinosaur scene includes a dozen dinosaur casts that will leave your littles in awe, while offering hands-on activities to help them learn too.

 

LOS TROMPOS

Direct from Mexico City, Los Trompos encourages play and enables communities to celebrate its many cultures together. Take a spin on one of eight colorful and vibrant large-scale spinning tops created by award winning artists and designers Héctor Esrawe and Ignacio Cadena.

MOTHER AND SON OUTDOOR ADVENTURE

Friday, May 10 / 6:00 pm – 8:30 pm

@ Sterling Heights Nature Center

This jam-packed event will begin with a dinner (all beef hot dog, chips, pop) and end with a “dirt” dessert specially prepared by the boys for their Mom. In between is where the adventure begins as participants will explore a variety of activities put on by Nature Center Staff and L.L. Bean including archery, outdoor games, a chance to launch items from a giant slingshot , and more!

 

KID’S NIGHT OUT

We’ll find lovely blooms popping up through the grass or sprouting on the forest floor. Enjoy a short presentation on local wildflowers and then get outside to see what is blooming here at LSNC. During the presentation and hike, participants will learn basic plant identification skills using field guides as well as some of the fascinating folklore surrounding some of these plants. Enjoy a “tea time” of ice-cold lemonade or iced tea and granola bars in the garden before you head home.
