ULTIMATE FISHING SHOW

The largest pure fishing show in the country opens in Metro-Detroit, the largest freshwater fishing market in the country, when the Ultimate Fishing Show-Detroit drops anchor Jan. 10 through 13 at Suburban Collection Showplace, 46100 Grand River Avenue in Novi. We hope you can make it over to Novi. The expo will feature a trout pond stocked with rainbow trout that kid can fish.

Join Warren Astronomical Society member Marty Kuntz as he leads you on a journey deep into the winter night sky. You will explore winter constellations, deep space objects and other astronomical phenomena. Telescopes will be provided; however, you are welcome to bring your own. Marty will help you learn the ins and outs of your telescope. This program will occur regardless of the sky conditions. Be sure to dress for winter weather. Coffee and hot chocolate will be supplied.

Create a 3D sculpture inspired by the artist Louise Nevelson who was known to make work using everyday objects and materials she found on the street. We will explore the UMMA exhibition, Abstraction, Color, and Politics in the Early 1970s, which features a large-scale work by Nevelson, as well as other well known abstract expressionists, followed by a hands-on workshop with local artists Susan Clinthorne and Nora Venturelli.

Get the family together for a fun time learning about basic safety, belay techniques, knot tying and voice commands. This class will only need to be taken once. Walking through the restored firehouse, visitors can view a fire engine steamer replete with horses, ready to go on their way to a fire. The large, modern addition offers 25 changing exhibits of antique fire trucks and early fire rigs, multiple displays of historic artifacts including tools, equipment, memorabilia and the largest collection of fire truck bells in the country.
