TOP THINGS TO DO WITH KIDS IN METRO DETROIT IN NOVEMBER

The holiday season is in full swing and from celebrating ‘national days’ like STEAM and Hiking to timeless holidays like Thanksgiving there’s plenty to do close to home and downtown too.
National S.T.E.A.M Day is Monday, November 8th. Plan a visit to a science museum or play space and enter to win a family membership to the Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum.
Share your smiles with family and friends near and far with holiday cards. Find a local photographer or bring a selfie stand for family pictures at one of these beautiful metro Detroit locations.
Stretch your legs and enjoy the cool air before it’s cold on a family walk. November 17th is National Hiking Day and the perfect excuse to explore some new trails.
Head downtown for the holidays. The annual Tree Lighting Ceremony is on November 19th and will include the opening of The Rink, carriage rides and Light Up Beacon Park. And bundle up on Turkey Day to watch America’s Thanksgiving Day Parade live from Woodward Avenue. If you want fairy magic, head to Belle Isle to go on a fun, free family fairy door hunt.
Earlier evenings make it easier to fit in light shows and keep to bedtime. Here are the light shows we can’t wait to see, find a complete list here.
- Wayne County Lightfest @ Hines Drive, Westland
- Starry Lights @ The Ford House, Grosse Pointe Shores
- Wild Lights @ Detroit Zoo, Royal Oak
