April lives in Los Gatos with her husband and sons Jett (age 6) and River (age 3). We asked April to share her favorite places to go in sunny California.

The San Jose suburb, Los Gatos has something for everyone. From small town charm with unique architecture to outdoor hiking trails at state or county parks. Have fun with the kids and, perhaps, sneak off to a local winery. Make sure you spend time in the great outdoors to get a true northern California experience.

Super Duper Burger
We love going here as a family.  It is super easy and they have foosball tables for the kids to play on while we are waiting for the food.  The food is high quality/organic and the burgers are amazing.

Vasona Park
Vasona park is a great place for everyone.  They have three huge playgrounds to choose from and a bike path that goes along Vasona lake.  In December they have holiday lights on display which is one of our favorite holiday activities (just make sure you get tickets in advance because they sell out fast).

Calabaza Park
We love going to the bike park and go as much as we can.  You have to bring your own bike but the great part about it is that they have a small section for smaller kids.  There is also a playground right next to it if you have smaller ones that can’t go in the park yet.

Children’s Discovery Museum of San Jose
The discovery museum is a great place to take the kids to explore.  We usually end up here on a rainy day.  There is a place to picnic there so you can bring your own food.

Capitola Beach
Just over the hill is a fun beach town Capitola.  We find ourselves at the beach often, especially this one in the summer but winter is fun too.  Parking is difficult so go early and you can grab a meter spot.  There are plenty of restaurants right there at the beach to grab food.  There is a place to surf and a little shack that rents boards right there for convenience.  The town is cute with tons of shopping also.

Hotel Los Gatos
Hotel Los Gatos is a charming hotel right in downtown Los Gatos so that you can walk to shops and restaurants.  It has an outdoor pool and will make you feel like you are in Italy.
