Top Things To Do With KIDS In April

https://dowgardens.org/gardens/

It’s finally Spring! Longer and warmer days are just what we needed — now there’s no excuse to not get out of the house. Here are some of our favorite events happening in April.

Stroller Roll

The sun is out, temps are up and we’re ready to Roll! Join the LittleGuide team at the Dequindre Cut on April 18th for our FIRST in-person event. The Stroller Roll presented by Delta Dental is a causal meet-up event and it’s FREE to attend.

Spend Time Outside

We’re ready to ramp up our #1000HoursOutside challenge. Petting Farms are re-opening for the season, here are 12 local farms to check out. Playground hoping Hines Drive is lots of fun. After a winter in storage we’re thrilled to be able to pull out our bikes, here are our favorite metro Detroit trails.

Take a road trip to visit beautiful gardens in Michigan: Dow Gardens (Midland), Meijer Gardens (Grand Rapids), Tuliptime (Holland)

Celebrate Earth Day

Earth Day is Thursday, April 21 and we’ve got you covered with fun at-home activities and easy sustainable habits you can start at home. If you want to find us, we’ll be at the Outdoor Gro-Town storytime at the Livonia Public Library.

Go Green

Now is the time to plan for your garden and Blake Farms has vegetable seed kits you can order. If you don’t have a green thumb or want to make sure you always have fresh produce on hand, sign up for Hungry Harvest to have it delivered to your door. Use the coder ‘Little50’ for a discount off your first order.

FREE Family Fun at the Y

The YMCA is celebrating Healthy Kids Days throughout the month of April with FREE family events! Sign up for a Family Fun Run, Family Zumba or Cardio Drumming class (that’s what we’re checking out), Awesome Kids Obstacle Course, open swim sessions and more! You don’t need to be a member to attend, check here for the schedule.

Rainy Day Fun

Make a splash on rainy days with a trip to a local indoor waterpark. Aqua Tots has open family swim at all locations Monday – Friday from 11am to 3pm for only $10 per family! You can also get ready for summer by signing up for swim class. Water safety is really important, here’s how to find the best swim school for your kids.

Book a Summer Getaway!

It may only be April but with an entire year stuck at home, people are ready to get back to summer road trips and family vacations. Plan a fun Michigan summer getaway or check out Chicago.

April is Autism Awareness Month. Local mom Michelle Fecteau shares her experience and favorite resources for families who need them.
