The YMCA Offers More Than Fitness, Hosts FREE Family Events

If you’re looking to connect and refresh, check out the YMCA of Metropolitan Detroit. The iconic community center offers health and wellness services at 7 locations across southeast Michigan and it’s the perfect place for your family.

The YMCA is more than a community fitness center, it’s a place for families to have fun and connect with their neighbors. This summer, different YMCA locations are hosting FREE special events for its members.

July 21: Family Movie Night – Macomb Family YMCA
July 22: Family Fun Swim – Boll Family YMCA
July 22: Parents Night Out – Farmington Family YMCA
July 30 – September 3: Parent/child Gymnastics – Birmingham Family YMCA
Saturdays, August 6-27: Family Zumba – Downriver Family YMCA
August 19: Family Movie Night – Macomb Family YMCA
August 26: Family Fun Swim – Boll Family YMCA

All 7 locations in metro Detroit offer strength and cardio equipment, indoor track, and a pool for the fitness routine of your choice. With FREE child watch services, it’s easy to plan your workout without worrying about who will watch the kids.

The Boll Family Y (Detroit), Carls Family YMCA (Milford) and Downriver YMCA (Southgate) have family pools with slides and splash pads and you can reserve them for private play. Need a place for a winter birthday? The Farmington Family Y has a private warm temperature pool families can rent for parties.

For 170 years the YMCA has been working in our community and to celebrate this milestone, The Y has challenged everyone in the community to log 170 minutes of movement a week on the easy to use Y170 Challenge Fitness app (available in the App Store and Google Play). It’s a fun FREE family activity that will also give you a chance to win monthly prizes. You DO NOT need to be a member to participate. The YMCA is for everyone and so is this contest.
