It’s not too late to enroll your littles in pre-school this year…and it can be FREE! If you’re looking for in-person pre-school for your toddler, we have great news – the Boll Family YMCA in downtown Detroit is currently enrolling students in the Great Start Readiness Program. A FREE pre-school program for Michigan families with an annual household income of $104,000 or less.

The Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP) at the YMCA is a nationally recognized tuition-free preschool for eligible children who will be 4 years of age by December 1st. The YMCA and Great Start Readiness Program brings together a unique combination of resources to ensure that children gain the skills and knowledge to successfully begin kindergarten.

The in-person classroom hours include group learning, teacher directed activities, and outdoor play. Students are provided healthy breakfast, lunch and snacks too. The learning doesn’t stop in the classroom, teachers work with families at home to help ensure kids have all the necessary tools for success.

Unlike Head Start, the income eligibility requirements are more generous for GSRP participants. The primary factor for determining eligibility is the student’s age. Children must be 4 on or before December 1, 2020 to participate.
