The Sloan Museum of Discovery is a must for Michigan families, the brand-new facility offers high-tech, interactive hands-on experiences for kids of all ages. Check it out for FREE Labor Day Weekend, September 2nd to 4th, thanks to the United Way!

The United Way of Genesee County is providing free general admission to Longway Planetarium and Sloan Museum of Discovery on the weekends of September 2nd to 4th and November 4th to 6th! United Way Free Weekends are in celebration of the United Way of Genesee County’s Centennial and to encourage everyone to explore all they ways we can all LIVE UNITED.

Get your tickets in-person at Guest Services, or reserve tickets online. Please note that seating capacity is limited to 129 seats in the Planetarium so advanced reservations are recommended.

The Sloan Museum of Discovery has 5 hands-on areas with different focuses to engage kids of different ages and interests.

Discovery Hall Science Gallery

Hands-on science Discovery Hall will engage visitors in earth and physical science exploration, featuring the multi-story Spaceship Earth exhibit, a Maker Space, the giant interactive Great Lakes water table, Earth Globe, and much more!

Hagerman Street – Early Childhood Learning Gallery

Hagerman Street prepares kids for Kindergarten through play-centric exploration. Interactive child-sized neighborhood with roundabouts for tricycles, shops, and a charming three-story tree house.

History Gallery

Reimagined Flint history galleries present inclusive stories, designed with the flexibility to frequently change displays that span from the earliest inhabitants through history-in-the-making.

Durant Vehicle Gallery

The 11,000 square foot Durant Vehicle Gallery will present rotating exhibits about the history and future of the automobile inside the Sloan Museum of Discovery. Kids will love the concept cars on display by General Motors.

Makers Space

Get creative, collaborate and feel free to make mistakes in the high tech maker space that offers guests a chance to try make and take projects, experience 3D printing and – literally – paint on the wall.

The Sloan Museum of Discovery is open Tuesdays – Saturdays from 10am to 5pm and Sundays 12pm to 5pm. Admission is $13 for guests ages 12+ and children ages 2 to 11 are $8, younger guests are free. Parking is free and electric charging stations are available in the parking lot.
