STRIDE gives boys in 3rd through 5th grade a place to exhibit excellence in character, make healthy choices, and build confidence through fun activities and running! Find a program at your local YMCA and register today.

STRIDE is designed to develop and enhance boys social, emotional, and physical competencies to successfully navigate life experiences. Screened and trained adult volunteer coaches teach the STRIDE curriculum that focuses on developing life skills through intentional conversation-based lessons and running games. At the end of the 8 weeks, boys will be physically and emotionally prepared to complete a 5K run.

The STRIDE program introduces boys to topics and provides them with a safe space to talk about:

  • Bullying
  • Teamwork
  • Healthy Eating
  • Goal setting
  • Making A Difference

Registration is open now and STRIDE begins on September 28th. The program meets twice a week for 75 minutes after school for a total of 10 weeks in Walled Lake and Dearborn. At the end of the 10 weeks the boys will run in a 5K race to demonstrate the endurance they have gained.
