April showers bring Tulip Time Flowers in May! Plan your trip to Holland (Michigan) for the annual Tulip Time Festival.

There are few places more beautiful than Holland in the spring. Since 1929, the city has blossomed with literally hundreds of thousands of tulips and the beautiful blooms attract thousands of visitors each year. Experience Tulip Time with your family and plan a road trip during May 4th to 12th.

Tulip Time events include the carnival, Dutch Dance, Tall Ship tours, artisan market and more! Get ready to take plenty of pictures because thousands of tulips have been planted in city parks, at Windmill Island Gardens, and along miles of Tulip Lanes.

Whether it’s a day trip or an overnight stay, here are the 3 things to do in Holland Michigan this spring.

Holland Oz Project: Stop by the 5.6 acre Centennial Park in downtown Holland to check out the massive floral book cover, life-size character sculptures and a yellow brick road of course! The storybook blooms after Memorial Day but the Wizard of Oz statues outside the library are out all year long. The park is open daily from 6am to 11pm.

Windmill Island Gardens: A beautiful oasis on the edge of downtown Holland, Windmill Island Gardens features an original working Dutch windmill, canals, children’s garden and playground. Over 100,000 tulips bloom in spring but you can find annual plants and flowers in the summer. Admission is $12 for adults and $6 for kids 3-15 years old.

Holland State Park: It’s probably too cold for a swim but you could get your toes wet, play in the sand and stop by the picturesque red lighthouse by the Holland Channel to watch the sunset on Lake Michigan from the beach.
