Eating out with kids is hard but so is making dinner. Make plans to eat downtown and take the patio seating. It’s a great way to enjoy the warm weather and let the kids be a bit louder and have more space to move around.  Here are a few of our favorite places to eat out(side) with the kids in Detroit.

Pie-Sci Pizza // 5163 Trumbull Avenue, Detroit, MI 48208

Everyone loves pizza and Pie-Sci’s creative flavors can’t be beat. Neither can their patio. There are plenty of picnic tables and lots of space for kids to run around.

Ottava Via // 1400 Michigan Ave, Detroit, MI 48216

Ottava Via takes patio seating to the next level with a bocce ball court! Everyone will love the Italian favorites and a friendly ball game.

Mudgie’s Deli // 1300 Porter St, Detroit, MI 48226

Mudgie’s has a beautiful patio but it also has a playground across the street. Eat your sandwich at the restaurant or order it to go and eat at Murphy Playlot.

Founders // 456 Charlotte St, Detroit, MI 48201

Mom and Dad can enjoy a beer while the kids enjoy some room to move around on the fully enclosed patio. Bonus: Founders has outdoor fire pits and heat laps so you can enjoy eating outside in cooler weather too!

Avalon Cafe + Biscuit Bar // 2998 W Grand Blvd, Detroit, MI 48202

Eat well and outside at Avalon’s cafe on the Boulevard. Located next to New Center Park you can eat at the tables or bring a blanket and enjoy a picnic.

Detroit Institute of Bagels // 1236 Michigan Ave, Detroit, MI 48226

Start your day off right with the best bagels in town. DIB has outdoor seating and a little library for you to find and share books.

Hockeytown Cafe // 2301 Woodward Ave, Detroit, MI 48201

Take in the sights and sounds of downtown from the rooftop of Hockeytown Cafe! Located in District Detroit your littles can see where all 4 major sports teams play.

The Jolly Pumpkin Pizzeria & Brewery // 441 W Canfield St #9, Detroit, MI 48201

The Cass Corridor is a great spot for people watching, With plenty of foot traffic you can experience big city fun but away from the main street.

Seva Detroit // 66 E Forest Ave, Detroit, MI 48201

Seva offers a vegetarian menu (with gluten-free options) and a large patio away from the street making it easy for the kids to play while you enjoy a healthy meal.

The Fountain // 800 Woodward Ave, Detroit, MI 48226

Sit back on the beach and relax while the kids play in the sand in the middle of the city. The Fountain is a seasonal ‘pop-up’ restaurant in Campus Martius offering burgers, tacos and salads.

Selden Standard // 3921 2nd Ave, Detroit, MI 48201

A fancier option for the kids but a great brunch spot for all – Selden Standard has a nice enclosed outdoor patio.
