If you’re looking for something fun to do this summer, head to the Monroe Street Midway and enjoy kid-friendly fun in downtown Detroit.

The Monroe Street Midway presented by Bedrock and RollerCade (the nation’s oldest Black-owned roller rink), hosts open skate hours for the public for $13 per person (skate rental included). In addition to skating, families can play basketball at the Rocket Mortgage Sports Zone, enjoy a family meal from local food trucks or play on the 9-hole miniature golf course. Make your visit extra special and plan your trip on one of the themed days that feature additional free kid-friendly activities.

Saturday, July 23rd @ 12pm to 6pm: Family Fun Day

Activities: Face painting, glitter tattoos, balloon twisters, live airbrushing, fresh the clowns, and Detroit shrimp and fish food truck.

Friday, August 5th @ 5pm to 11pm: Neon Day & Neon Night

Activities: Photo booths, free glow sticks, necklaces, etc. Live performance by Believ3 (dance team) at 9pm. We are coordinating with AVL to add UV lights and the smoke machine for this particular day.

Sunday, August 14th @ 12pm to 9pm: Family Fun Day

Activities: live airbrushing, fresh the clowns, DJ Hoop, Swag giveaways, India Solomon art on the lawn, Believ3 (dance team) live stage performance 6:30pm

The Midway is open Wednesdays and Thursdays from 11am to 7pm; Fridays and Saturday from 11am to 8pm and Sundays from 11am to 9pm. Walk-ins are welcome but you can also reserve your time online here. A waiver is also required and can be completed in advance online here.

FREE parking is available to skaters. Park at one of these participating garages and receive up to 4 hours of validated parking.

Movie Nights In The D @ Campaus Martius (June 9 – August 25)

Come to Beacon Park with the whole family to enjoy make + take activities, lawn games, and crafts. Each week will feature unique themes including field day activities, music, art, and live performances.
