Whether your family's school year consists of homeschooling, virtual learning or in person instruction, kiddos grow like weeds and are…
Do you need ideas for activities to do with kids? Tried and true suggestions that real moms actually do? Here they are! We’re asking families to share their favorites, to help you find yours.
A couple months ago, we shared that a new play cafe was opening in Corktown (the first in Detroit!). Social Tykes was originally scheduled to open this summer but then COVID-19 happened and construction was delayed and costs increased. Recently a call to action was put out to help get the work done and doors open, if you want to help a working momprenuer, let me introduce you to Raven.
My name is Raven, and I am the mom to two boys, Enzo 4 years old and Emory 10 months. I was born and raised in Ypsilanti, MI. As I got older, I found a love for the city of Detroit! I am so excited to see all of the new development, and things to do! I am currently in the works of opening an indoor play space for kids called Social Tykes in the Corktown neighborhood. This space is curated for kids newborn – 6 years old and their loved ones. Follow us on Instagram and check out my favorite things to do with kids below:
Favorite Ways To Spend Family Time:
- Movie night & Popcorn (countdown to who falls asleep first)
- Outdoor time — skateboard practice and sidewalk chalk
- Pool time and outdoor BBQ’s with family (especially during the quarantine)
Favorite Places To Go:
Favorite Bedtime Stories:
- I am Perfectly Designed by Karamo Brown
- The King Of Kindergarten by Derrick Barnes
- Love You Forever by Robery Munsch
Best Park/Playground: Booth Park
This park is perfect in terms of size and different things to do for kids of all ages. Enzo’s favorite by far was the cardboard boxes sliding down the hill. Great for a break from the house, and to meet up with friends for some fresh air.
Best Movie/Television Show: Boss Baby: Back In Business
Boss Baby seems to be the hot show in our house right now. My oldest pretends that Emory is the ‘Boss Baby’, and he’s the older brother (partner in crime) in the show, this is priceless to walk in on and see him attempting to reenact the scenes!
Best Life-Saver: Snuggle Me Organic Lounger
From newborn, to now 10 months Emory loves snuggling up in here and napping. As a newborn swaddling him and placing him on his back in here brought him so much comfort and peace. Seems to give them the same effect as being in mom’s arms. Another bonus is that it’s super easy to wash and dry!
Best Summer Destination: Disney World
Disney World has been our favorite summer travel destination so far. Recognizing all of the characters from Disney shows and movies, and seeing Enzo’s reaction was priceless! The key to sanity during this trip was definitely taking breaks for nap time (crucial) and eating outside of the parks when possible! We did breakfast with the characters for two days, which was a BLAST, the characters took the time out to interact with the kids at each table and do a parade throughout the restaurant. We cannot wait to take both boys back!
