Looking for inspiration + ideas for things to do with kids in Metro Detroit? Tried and true suggestions that real moms actually do? Here they are! Hungry Howie’s appreciates Moms and joins LittleGuide Detroit in spotlighting a local Mom each week in the #MomLife series. To take one thing off her plate and give her more time for fun, Hungry Howie’s is giving each week’s featured Mom a free pizza dinner for her and her family to enjoy. Thank you Hungry Howie’s for being the Official Pizza of Moms.

Hi, I’m Lena Dabish and I’m so thrilled to be featured on this #MomLife series! I have two boys: Xander (2) and Brycen (11) and my pup, Onyx . I own and Operate Clean Eats and Fresh Field Meats in West Bloomfield. Clean Eats is a healthy meal prep company that was inspired by my own journey with weight loss. I started out in a gym 10 years ago doing meal prep and moved into my own storefront in West Bloomfield a few years ago. Last year, I launched Fresh Field Meats to make grass-fed, organic meat and poultry accessible to our community here. I’m in the kitchen Mondays – Wednesday and juggling life with two boys in between. Life is BUSY!

Best Park/Playground: Scarlet’s Park (Commerce Township)
We absolutely adore Scarlet’s Park in Commerce Township. There is a beautiful story behind it and both my kids have a blast when we visit. I appreciate it’s accessibility, especially since I have ankle issues (there are no stairs so it’s low impact).
Best Family-Friendly Annual Event: National Cherry Festival (Traverse City)
It’s such a wonderful excuse to take the kids up north, they love it. And we always stock up on the Cherry BBQ sauce for summer grilling.
Your Mom Must-Have: Healthy Meals from Clean Eats & a Cute Backpack
Taking home meals from Clean Eats helps our family stay on track and eat healthy while we juggle our busy lives! It truly takes the guesswork out of meal time. When we’re not eating Clean Eats, we like to fire up the grill with locally-sourced meats and lots of veggies! Besides healthy eating, all moms know that a stellar bag is key! My Lululemon backpack gives me plenty of room to haul both my 2 year old son’s snacks and trucks and an extra clean t-shirt for my older son Brycen after baseball practice.
Best Summer Destination or Event: Traverse City, MI
Hands down, Traverse City – a few times a year, we do a family fun weekend where it’s just US – where we eat, no screens, enjoying each other and the beauty that is Northern Michigan.
“Pat Yourself on the Back” Accomplishment: My Journey to a Healthier Lifestyle
I’m very proud that I found the ability to change my lifestyle. When I was 36 (at over 300 lbs) I learned everything I could about healthy eating while solidifying my business and was able to lose 100 pounds in the process. My health journey will always be a work in progress (isn’t it for everyone?) but I’m very proud of where I’ve come.
