Are you following @kelsy_b_fitness on Instagram? Kelsy is a local mom of two little ones and a personal trainer that helps local moms meet their health + fitness goals at The Lean Body Studio in Royal Oak. Check out one of her mom-focused, kick butt classes either virtually or in-person!
My name is Kelsy Benacquisto and I’m mama to two crazy active boys – Bode (age 3) and Luca (age 2). I’m a pre/postnatal certified Personal Trainer that works at The Lean Body Studio in Royal Oak, MI. Before kids I worked in Marketing which required lots of travel so I shifted my focus to my family for a bit before moving into my passion industry of health and fitness. I love helping mamas feel their best during pregnancy (and so many benefits for baby too!) and postpartum. We all need an outlet and working out is the best mood booster! I work one on one with clients as well as small group classes at LBS. You can find my personal page at @kelsy_b_fitness and the studio page at @lbs_metrodetroit for group class schedules.
Favorite Ways To Spend Family Time:
- Riding our bikes to downtown Birmingham for brunch or ice cream
- Cuddling up with popcorn for a movie night
- Exploring new places – we just got back from Hilton Head, South Carolina!
Favorite Places To Go:
- Detroit Zoo (Royal Oak)
- The Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village (Dearborn)
- Franklin Cider Mill (Bloomfield Hills)
Favorite Bedtime Stories:
- Shh! We Have A Plan by Chris Haughton
- The Story of Babar: The Little Elephant by Jean De Brunhoff
- Little Blue Truck Series by Alice Schertle
Favorite Family-Friendly Restaurants:
Best Park/Playground: Pembroke Park (Birmingham)
We live next to Pembroke Park so we are ALWAYS there. We love this park because there are a lot of different areas for the kids including a baseball diamond and tennis courts. I’m partial to it as a mom because it is covered with trees which means lots of shade in those hot summer months!
Best Family-Friendly Annual Event: Hallowe’en in Greenfield Village (Dearborn)
Our favorite family-friendly event to attend each year is by far the Halloween Nights at Greenfield village. They put on an amazing show – spooky performers, haunted train and carousel, yummy treats, and more. My boys are SO into it. Halloween is by far their favorite holiday!
Your Mom Must-Have: Books!
Whether it be for the kids or myself, I find it so important to read everyday. For myself, it is an opportunity to unplug from mommy mode for a moment and take my mind somewhere else. We have built reading into our daily routine for the kids which I hope will continue throughout their lives as well!
Best Summer Destination or Event: Boyne City, MI
Our favorite summer destination is Boyne City on Lake Charlevoix. We are lucky enough to have family who have a place up there so we enjoy spending summer nights on the boat and beach. Boyne City is a great place for the kids – awesome park, fun 4th of July parade, and good restaurants.
“Pat Yourself on the Back” Accomplishment: Work-Life Balance
I’m proud of the work-life balance we have created at home. I feel so blessed to be able to pursue my passion part-time while still being home with my kids part-time. I feel like I get to enjoy the best of both worlds!
Our #MomLife Series is Presented by Hungry Howie’s – the Official Pizza of Moms!
