Meet Betsy

Hello beautiful, my name is Betsy! My partner is Mike and our kiddos are Asher and Margot. I am an empowered woman, and hairstylist, turning into a business owner, building a community. My goal is to create a well rounded, wellness collective space, looking for soul connectors who would like to keep an inclusive, light and warm hearted environment. I definitely wouldn’t even be in this position if it weren’t for having kids. All of my “salon owner” dreams have elevated and transformed because of being a mom/parent. Parenthood is so hard, but so rewarding. My dream career has also showed up with parallels with parenthood, and I wouldn’t trade either one for the world. My biggest thing is to keep a pretty good balance between the 4 most important parts of my life: self, parenting, romance and business. That includes many parts of my life which are self care and self love, Detroit love, keeping romance alive, being a woman, being a mom and parent, fitness, healthy cooking and living, homeschooling, travel, teaching hair classes, the list goes on. There are so many levels that make my life, mine. I’m so excited to share my story with you and would love to hear yours! Let’s connect @betsystyles!

Favorite Ways To Spend Family Time:

  • Belle Isle parks and trails
  • Bonfires
  • Board Game game nights

Favorite Places To Go:

Favorite Bedtime Stories:

Favorite Family-friendly Restaurants:

Best Park/Playground: Robert C. Valade Park (Detroit)

We love this park because there’s so many different levels of play. There’s a big hill to run up and roll down, there is a sand pit with three tree house style structures for climbing, there are even musical instruments throughout the park to play songs! It’s even entertaining for the parents or adults to enjoy with picnic tables and huge grills under a pavilion, Bobs barge in the summer there’s a Biergarten and even have winter activities. Or just sit and enjoy being on the river in their nice low wing back lawn chairs.

Best Family-Friendly Annual Event: Detroit Kite Festival (Belle Isle)

We honestly love being at Belle Isle all spring and summer and this is one of our favorites to watch and be part of!

Your Mom Must-Have: 4moms breeze GO Baby Playard

I remember babysitting back in the day with OTHER PACK N PLAYS…and let’s just say they didn’t get put together. The 4moms one is literally peace of mind and just so easy to use. You push it down and pull the strap up in the center to collapse it. So easy. So easy. (Two other go to faves are a portable sound machine & Infantino carrier to wear the kids everywhere.)

Best Spring Destination or Event: Movement Electronic Music Festival (Detroit)
We’ve taken the kids too – they just LOVE MUSIC, and they also offer yoga sessions that we’ve done with the kids too.

“Pat Yourself on the Back” Accomplishment: Making Healthy Changes for the Whole Family

Getting through a pandemic with SWITCHING my family’s food habits, for the better. We have gotten our health back. My kids are eating more well rounded and us parents lost our 20+ pounds of  “baby weight” JUST by eliminating junk, and drinking more water and eating more well rounded. It wasn’t as hard as I thought, it is commitment that makes it work! We also added in a lot of activity to keep us moving and grooving to keep the weight off, and it’s so much easier to move around! We purchased two e-bikes (Rad power bikes) last summer to ride around the city with the kids!
