Meet Jaci

Kids: Campbell (3)

Hometown: Grosse Pointe Park

My husband Eric and I work together at Grosse Pointe at Hampton Fox & Associates, a franchise of Ameriprise Financial.  We live in the city and are raising our son. When we aren’t working we enjoy the outdoors with Campbell and our dog Nellie.

PARK GRILL // GROSSE POINTE PARK

The food is fantastic and they serve real pieces of chicken when your kids wants “chicken nuggets.” It’s a fun atmosphere, you aren’t going to get looks from other patrons if your group is a little loud. In the summer they have outdoor seating which is really enjoyable. Another bonus, there is plenty of parking.

AFTER 6 ON KERCHEVAL // GROSSE POINTE PARK

After 6 is the third Saturday in June, July and August.  West Park shuts down three blocks of Kercheval to host bands, local restaurants & shops, kid games, vendors, etc.   The kids have a blast with all of the activities.

ROTARY TOT LOT // GROSSE POINTE

The Tot Lot is wonderful for kids 5 and under.  Everything is fenced in and the toys/swings/slides etc. are smaller for the little ones.  It’s great for us since it’s right across the street from our office.

BELLE ISLE // DETROIT

Belle Isle can end up being a full day trip – the Belle Isle Aquarium, Dossin Great Lakes Museum and the Nature Zoo.  They all have hands on activities for kids of all ages.  Campbell especially loves “driving” the boats at the Great Lakes Museum, he is able to push all of the buttons and flip all of the levers without mom telling him to keep his hands off.

EASTERN MARKET // DETROIT

I love bringing Campbell here.  My Dad used to take myself and my brother down to the Market every Saturday when we were kids.  It has changed a lot but so much has stayed the same.  We love eating at Russell Street, just as we did when I was a kid.

TRICK OR TREATING IN THE VILLAGES // GROSSE POINTE

The kids dress up and can go from store to store to trick or treat in the late afternoon.  It’s a great alternative to night time trick or treating if you have younger kids.

We love going for walks, very slow walks now that Campbell has determined that he’s too big for a stroller.  We walk up to our local neighborhood market, Fairfax Market, usually to pick up ingredients for dinner.  The employees know us by name and always give Campbell and Nellie (the dog) a special treat.  When we get home we make dinner together.  Campbell has his own stool that he pushes against the counter and helps us scoop and stir and cut up fruit and veggies with his special orange utensils.  We find that he eats a lot more when he helps prepare it.  ”
