Know Before You Go: Blake Farms

At Blake Farms, the family friendly activities are endless. From U-Pick fruits (and vegetables) and train rides, to their Funland and petting zoo full of farm animals, the fun spans all ages and all four seasons.
Plan to spend the day at Blake Farms because there’s so much to do! We took our boys to Blake’s Orchard & Cider Mill during strawberry season and they had a blast finding strawberries in the field. My son refused to try a strawberry prior to the trip but after picking them himself we now have a new food on his eat list! After gathering a bounty of fruit we headed to Funland to bounce out all the toddler energy (it was also a good workout for us). We couldn’t skip the tractor train ride and afterwards we fueled up on our boys favorite food (chicken nuggets) before grabbing some pies to go. There was a lot more to do but the boys were ready for nap time and passed out before we hit the main roads – always the sign of a good trip!
We planned our visit for early morning on a weekday in order to beat the crowds. Blakes is a popular place and weekends are busy. When you arrive you can drive straight through to get boxes for U-Pick or park and play at Funland before taking a ride out to the orchards. The farm offers an array of vegetables all summer long and all your favorite fruits. From strawberries to start the season, to cherries, raspberries and peaches in mid summer to apples and pumpkins in the fall you’ll have plenty of reasons to keep coming back. Check out the harvest calendar here.
What You Need:
- Dress for the weather. Rain boots or rubber shoes are a good idea if its been raining and you plan to go out into the fields.
