Kid-Friendly New Year’s Eve Events In Metro Detroit

Celebrate the end of 2018 and the start of the New Year with the whole family. From Noon Year’s Eve celebrations and firework displays, to family sleepover parties and balloon drops, there is something for kids of all ages! Start making plans for Monday, December 31st…but just a little earlier than normal!
@ Beacon Park, Detroit
The New Year’s Eve Kids Countdown will offer all the fun and excitement of a traditional New Year’s Eve party while allowing you and the kiddos be be home and tucked safely into bed long before the clock strikes midnight. Similar to Beacon Park’s wildly popular Family Fun Days, this event will offer a wide range of activities and crafts for all ages.
@ Detroit Historical Museum
Preschool and elementary-aged children and their families can make their own noisemaker, write a time capsule letter, enjoy cookies and hot cocoa, and most importantly, ring in the New Year with a countdown to noon! Admission to the museum and the event is free, although parking fees may apply.
@ Detroit Zoo, Royal Oak
The Detroit Zoo will light up the night again this holiday season with Wild Lights, a spectacular light display. For 24 nights, more than five million LED lights will illuminate trees, buildings and more than 230 animal sculptures throughout the front half of the Zoo. Experience the magic of the Detroit Zoo in winter as you take in the lights and the sights and enjoy holiday entertainment and special activities for guests of all ages.

Ring in 2019 with a BRICK-tacular balloon drop, music and games on New Year’s Eve at 12:00pm! Guests can also enjoy all of LEGOLAND Discovery Center’s attractions, including: Kingdom Quest Laser Ride, enjoy an extra dimension of fun with 4D versions of three different LEGO movies that include special effects like wind, rain and snow and learn top tips from our FUN-gineers as you build a special model with them.

Downriver’s LARGEST New Year’s Eve celebration happens at Biddle & Maple, next to the Wyandotte Clock Tower! The event’s main attraction is the one of kind New Year’s Eve ball. The 1,000 lb. steel ball glows with color-changing LED lights and is powered by DTE Energy Foundation. The evening will culminate with a Time Square style ball drop at 9 p.m. for families and again at the stroke of midnight as we ring in 2019. The Community Choice Credit Union heated tent will include FREE kids activities like face painting, crafts, photo booth and games.
@ Clarkston Independence District Library
Count down to mid-day as we ring in 2019 at this free New Year celebration for families and children of all ages. Party hats, noisemakers, games and snacks. Balloon drop at Noon. FREE and open to the public.
@ Escape, Troy
Celebrate New Year’s Eve at Troy Lanes with 2.5 hours of bowling, a $10 game card, pizza, party favors and unlimited laser tag!
