Inside Out: Experience the Detroit Institute of Arts Outside This Summer

If you miss the Detroit Institute of Arts but aren’t ready for indoor activity, plan trips around town and check out these public arts displays. These are the most walkable destinations, find a complete list of 2020 displays here.
Wayne County
- Lafayette Green Gardens (Detroit): Public garden next to American + Layafette Coney Islands has 2 paintings.
- Elizabeth Park (Trenton): Find 6 pieces of art in Elizabeth Park and along Jefferson Avenue
- Black Box Gallery Coffee Shop (Dearborn): Find 2 painting and some coffee.
- Rotary Park + Civic Center (Livonia): Take a stroll along the paved trail at Rotary Park (3 paintings) and the Livonia Recreation Center (2 paintings). And find two more at the Civic Center Library (and a story walk) and City Hall.
- Downtown Northville: 4 DIA paintings can be found between Cady and Main Street. At the library, Northville Art House, Community Center and Police Station.
Oakland County
- Rochester Hills Public Library(Rochester Hills): Stroll along Paint Creek and look for 3 paintings at the library.
- Catalpa Oaks County Park (Southfield): Find 3 paintings and a cool play set at Catalpa Park.
- Civic Center (Madison Heights): Find 2 painting at the Civic Center, one at the library and another in the park.
- Civic Center (Auburn Hills): Take a walk through the park, play disc golf and check out the paintings at the library and community center.
- Berkley: Bike thru Berkley to see the 6 paintings on display between Jaycee Park and Oxford Towers Park.
- Milford Public Library (Milford): Put books on hold and check out 2 paintings at the library when you do curbside pick-up
Macomb County
- Dodge Park (Sterling Heights): Put on your walking shoes to find 5 paintings located from the Upton House, through Dodge Park to Farmstead Park.
- Wahby Park (St. Clair Shores): There are 10 paintings in St. Clair Shores and you can find 4 of them in and near Wahby Park.
- Heritage Park (Utica): Find 2 painting (and bridges) in Heritage Park along the Clinton River.
- Civic Center (Auburn Hills): Take a walk through the park, play disc golf and check out the paintings at the library and community center.
- Lake St. Clair Metropark (Harrison Township): Find 6 paintings throughout the metropark.
- Indian Springs Metropark (White Lake): Find 6 paintings throughout the metropark and a cool splash pad too!
