Heritage Park Offers Family Fun All Year Long In Farmington Hills

Heritage Park in Farmington Hills has everything you need for outdoor family fun. Hiking trails, playground, nature activities and seasons favorites including sledding hills and splash pads. If you haven’t visited Heritage Park, add it to your list.
Heritage Park is a 211-acre park with a 4.5 miles of trails that’s great for family walks, icy adventures or cross-country skiing. Follow the Nature Discovery Trail that begins at the north end of the park by the sledding hill, playground and splashpad for a nature study and hands-on play. Kids of all ages will love the wooden forts along the trail and the musical instruments. The Nature Discovery Trail leads family to the Nature Center and newly designed storybook walk.
The Farmington Hills Nature Center has open hours, day camp and classes for year round learning. Currently families can reserve private use of the facility for only $10 per family on Tuesdays to Sundays from 10:00am to 4:00pm. The Nature Center interpretive exhibits include a life-sized animal habitat, a backyard habitat bird viewing area, native fish aquariums, and live animal displays. Here are a few of the activities for families to sign up for:
- Junior Naturalists Club: Ages 5 to 11
Enrich your child’s natural curiosity and encourage outdoor exploration through this hands-on nature discovery program. Children explore a different nature theme each month. They will
touch, smell, hear and see many aspects of the natural world! This class is outdoors. Cost: $13 per child. Next Session: February 13 - Nature Makerspace: Ages 6+
Design, create and make using nature as the inspiration to solve real-world challenges! Makerspace learning fosters STEM skills and is driven by children’s natural curiosity and desire to make things. The Nature Center is a unique place for young scientists and engineers to dream, plan, invent and test. Cost: $2 per child. Next Session: January 21 & 23
- F.O.X. Club: Ages 7-11
