Grandparent’s Day is Sunday, September 8th and it’s the perfect excuse to plan a special outing with the grandkids. Here are special events happening around town that everyone will love.


Grandparents Day Celebration @ West Bloomfield Township Public Library
Saturday, September 7
Celebrate National Grandparents Day at the Library! Enjoy a fun-filled day for grandparents, grand-kids and the entire family, featuring roving princesses and The Ninja Turtles, photo booth, family concert and crafts!


Grandparents Day Hike and Craft @ Hawk Nature Center, Auburn Hills
Saturday, September 7
Celebrate grandparents or your special adult with an intergenerational guided hike and fun craft! Meet at the Hawk Woods Pavilion.


Grandparents Day @ Jackson YMCA
Sunday, September 8
Join AARP Michigan, the Jackson Symphony Orchestra, and the Jackson YMCA for Grandparents Day! There will be inflatables, mini-basketball hoops, and music and movement classes for the preschool crew, basketball and volleyball for the grade school crew, and cardio drumming and line dancing for kids of all ages, and much more! For music lovers, there will be a musical petting zoo, where you can experience musical instruments, and make instruments from common household items to take home.


Grandparents’ Free Hayrides @ Kensington Metro Park Farm Center, Milford
Sunday, September 8
Grandma and Grandpa get a free ride when they take their grandkids on the hayride today, as a thank you to those that work very hard and still have time to bring their family for a fun afternoon at the farm.


Grandparents Day @ Detroit Historical Museum
Sunday, September 8
Museum admission is free and activities will be located throughout the museum galleries, including a live band, Motown-themed fun, crafts for adults and children, storytellers and more!
