The bell curve of dinosaur knowledge peaks in childhood and parenthood. Consequently, when you’re greeted by Steggy on the museum’s grounds and a full-sized Tyrannosaurus rex skeleton at the entrance you know it’s going to be a good day. At the Cranbrook Institute of Science you’ll learn about more than dinosaurs, you’ll learn about geology, physics, the solar system and human history too.
The new Life on Earth exhibit gives guests of all ages the opportunity to explore and get an up-close look at unique specimens, visual elements, and tons of educational resources that present the complexities of Earth’s biodiversity. The Life on Earth showcases the unique zones of our planet and features the most unusual organisms, like rock eating bacteria, parasitic worms, jellyfish, and rare pangolin, sometimes known as scaly anteaters.
The Institute is currently open Wednesday thru Sunday and you can reserve your timed tickets online. Adults are $13 and children ages 2 to 12 are $9.50.

- Saturdays: 10am to 5pm
- Sundays: 12pm to 4pm
When you visit the museum you can also explore the Cranbrook Gardens for FREE! The 40-acre gardens will be open to the public daily from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. (including weekends and holidays) and it’s a great way to take in the great outdoors.
