Although we should be showering moms with love and appreciation throughout the year, Mother’s Day is the one day of the year where the focus is entirely on mom. Unfortunately this year, Mother’s Day is going to look very different in the wake of social distancing and stay at home orders. And just because Mother’s Day brunch or weekend getaways are canceled, it doesn’t mean we can’t connect with the amazing moms we are all so lucky to have in our lives. Whether it’s your own mom, your grandma, or your best mom friend, these are creative and safe ways to celebrate all of the incredible mothers in your life.

At Home Mother’s Day Brunch

Partake in a social distanced Mother’s Day brunch with your loved ones. Invite your extended family and friends to a virtual brunch date. Encourage everyone to support a local restaurant and order from mom’s favorite brunch spot or make one of these delicious and easy make-ahead brunch ideas.

Family Game Night

Order out for an at-home pizza picnic and sprawl out on the living room floor for a fun family game night. Play mom’s favorite card game or try one of these awesome family board games

Send or Make Mom Her Favorite Meal

Suprise your own momma with dinner and dessert from her favorite restaurant. Have her meal delivered or pick it up and deliver it to her doorstep. Even better whip up your mom’s favorite homemade meal and include a handwritten Mother’s Day card!

Make a Gratitude Video

Create a homemade video for mom showering her with messages of love. Get siblings, grandchildren, and other family members involved and send the finished product to mom’s inbox for a creative Mother’s Day surprise.

Mother’s Day Parade

Gather your family and friends and parade past mom’s house for a surprise Mother’s Day visit. Go all out and decorate each car with balloons, streamers, and signs. This is also the perfect way to deliver gifts, cards, or sweet treats at mom’s doorstep.

Pamper Mom

There’s no better and easier way to celebrate Mother’s Day this year than to set up a day of rest and relaxation for mom. Keep it simple with these 6 easy ways to pamper mom or check out our guide for creating a relaxing Mother’s Day at home.

Take Mom on a Virtual Getaway

To date, my favorite Mother’s Day surprise has been a weekend getaway to my family’s lakehouse. Just because a relaxing getaway may not be an option this year, doesn’t mean you still can’t whisk mom “away” to an amazing destination. Check out our favorite virtual trips that mom will love.

Explore the Great Outdoors

Plan a picnic in the park, go window shopping around your favorite downtown neighborhood, or enjoy a “socially distanced” backyard barbeque.
