FREE & FUN FAMILY ACTIVITIES FOR MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND

Avoid the traffic and plan a staycation for the three-day weekend, here are four fun things to do for Memorial Day.
Go to a Parade or Festival
Pull out the stars and stripes and don some red, white and blue for parade day, most cities host a Memorial Day Parade to commemorate the lives and sacrifice of American soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines. Take your littles to Greenfield Village and learn about war between the states at the Civil War Remembrance or celebrate our freedom at the Hazel Park Memorial Festival Carnival or the St. Mary’s Polish County Fair.
Splash & Play
Let the kids burn off some energy and cool down at a local splash park, most open on Memorial weekend. Check out our Guide to Metro Detroit Splash Parks to find one near you.
Visit the Farm for Ice Cream
Take a road trip for some farm fresh ice cream and see what life is like on a local farm.
- Cook’s Farm Dairy – 2950 E Seymour Lake Road Ortonville, MI 48462
- Calder’s Dairy Farm – 9334 Finzel Rd, Carleton, MI 48117
- Crooked Creek Farm Dairy – 75960 Brown Rd, Romeo, MI 48065
Pick Fresh Produce and Have a Picnic in the Park
Skip the grocery store (and Shipt) and head out to the farmers market to find fresh produce for a Memorial Day picnic. Check out our Guide to Metro Detroit Farmers Markets to find your local market.
