THE BEACH DETROIT

Wednesday – Sunday in March

@ Downtown Detroit

The Beach Detroit reimagines the familiar natural and cultural elements of a day at the beach to create an unexpected and memorable experience for people of all ages. Visitors ascend a ramp before entering an all-white enclosure, where the floor descends towards the highlight of the experience – an ocean of recyclable, antimicrobial plastic balls.

 

MASCO FREE FIRST FRIDAY

Friday, March 1

@ Cranbrook Institute of Science, Bloomfield Hills

Courtesy of the MASCO Corporation Foundation, the Institute of Science is free after 5pm the first Friday of each month. Visit the museum for an evening of fun and don’t miss out on their latest exhibit Doom of the Dinosaurs.

 

DR. SEUSS CELEBRATION

Saturday, March 2 

@ Hazel Park Library, Hazel Park

Come celebrate the life of Dr. Seuss at Hazel Park Library on Saturday, March 2! There will be games, crafts, cookie decorating, stories, and more! The event is free, but registration is required.

 

FINDING BIGFOOT

@ Novi Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Center

He’s Back! There have been sightings of Bigfoot in Novi! Weekly, Bigfoot will travel to different parks, buildings and shopping destinations in Novi. Three clues will be given every Monday, Wednesday and Friday on the Novi Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services Facebook page to help you find him.

SLIME & STATE OF MATTER WITH ANN ARBOR HANDS-ON MUSEUM

Is it a solid? A liquid? A gas? Join us as we will discover the properties of each state of matter by making our ooey, gooey slime. We’ll also discuss how molecules look and act when changing between states of matter. Children will get to take home their slime as well as a recipe to make it again at home.

This annual celebration of the aquatic salamander that inhabits the Detroit River features fun and educational activities such as mask making, games and mudpuppy cookie decorating. The event also includes keeper talks and the opportunity to view mudpuppies up close while learning about the species and conservation efforts on its behalf.
