The Detroit River International Wildlife Refuge runs from the lower Detroit River, 20 miles south of the city, and 48 miles along the western shore of Lake Erie. It consists of 6,000 acres of land in Wayne and Monroe counties and the Gateway opened to the public this fall.

Dingell Visitor Center is now open to the public Thursday through Sunday from 9am to 4pm! Explore fun displays about local nature and how everyone can “Be a Conservation Hero”.

There is no cost to explore the Gateway and there is plenty of parking.
