The Countdown to Christmas is ON! Make the most of the holiday season with EASY festive activities for your family.

Day 1: Christmas Countdown

Pull out construction paper and the stapler to make a countdown for the kids to help the kids know how much longer they need to wait. Write a special activity or message on the strips (i.e. pizza night, family dance party, Christmas sweater day) and start each morning with something to look forward too.

Day 2: Write A Letter

Whether it’s a letter to Santa, a note to a friend or picture for the grandparents. Spread good cheer and take a trip to the mailbox.

Day 3: Make It Snow

It doesn’t quite feel like Christmas without snow. When there are no flurries outside, you can make them inside! Mix 2lbs of baking soda and a can of shaving cream in a bucket for sensory snow for the little ones or gather a few more supplies and make snow globes!

Day 4: Neighborhood Lights Tour

Take a walk around your neighborhood or a cruise in the car to scope out the lights in your neighborhood. It may not seem exciting as an adult but it’s magical for kids. If you want more local entertainment, check out one of these neighborhood light shows!

Day 5: Bake Cookies

Whether it’s a traditional favorite like Peanut Butter Blossoms and Gingerbread People or more creative options like Peppermint Brownie Cookies or Snickerdoodle Snowmen, make cookies for your family and package some up to deliver to friends or neighbors.

Day 6: Christmas Movie Night

Cuddle up on the couch and watch your favorite Christmas Movie – you can nibble on a cookie or two during the show.

Day 7: Visit Santa

Need to check in with the Big Guy? You can find his representatives around town (at a special event or the mall).

Day 8: Check Out a Holiday Event

It’s not too late to go to a holiday event around town. Whether it’s a ticketed event like Wild Lights or Starry Lights or an on-going free activity like the tree festival in downtown Plymouth or lights at Blossom Heath Pier, it’s easy to find Christmas cheer. One of our favorite traditions is putting on our holiday playlist and taking a ride through the Wayne County Lightfest.

Day 9: Sing Christmas Carols

Download the lyrics to your favorite songs or stream the Disney Sing-A-Long for Christmas Caroling in front of your tree or surprise friends or family with a special show.

Day 10: Make An Ornament

Since your kids may be missing out on school crafts this year, you can create some at home. Here are some fun and easy ideas.

Day 11: Visit A Relative

The most memorable part of the holidays is spending time with those you love. Whether it’s an extra day with grandma and grandpa or a special Zoom with relatives you don’t get to see as often as you’d like – find time say hi.

Day 12: Family Photo

Get dressed up, wear pajamas, put on the mask to remember the year – it doesn’t matter what you’re wearing as long as you’re together and that’s what you really want to remember.
