Earth Day Events & Activities for Kids

Earth Day is Friday, April 22nd and there’s plenty of events that will help us get our kids outside and involved with fun activities that give thanks to Mother Earth and all that she has to offer.
TUESDAY, APRIL 19
EARTH DAY CELEBRATION (WEST BLOOMFIELD)
What better way to celebrate Earth Day than by spending time enjoying nature! Come explore the Nature Room and Outdoor Natural Play Area. Celebrate Mother Earth with the many activities available, including: crafts, live animal interactions, guided nature hike, and more. Pre-registration is requested.
EARTH DAY STORY TIME (ROMULUS)
Mother Earth will be visiting Romulus Public Library again on April 19 at 6:30pm and April 20 at 10:30am for special Earth Day Story Times!
WEDNESDAY, APRIL 19
EARTH DAY @ KENNEDY LIBRARY (DEARBORN HEIGHTS)
Join us for an Earth Day craft and a plant to grow at home. This is a program for all ages!
FRIDAY, APRIL 22
EARTH DAY @ FARMINGTON NATURE CENTER
Celebrate the Earth with FREE family fun activities, live music, face painting, earth-friendly crafts, informational booths, giveaways, local food trucks and more! Low-cost Hayrides will also be offered. No need to register, just show up!
EARTH DAY TRAIL HIKE @ ROTARY PARK (LIVONIA)
Celebrate Earth Day by getting out into nature with the MOMS Club. Not sure how stroller friendly the trails will be this time of year so it may be a good idea to baby wear if possible.
EARTH DAY OPEN HOUSE @ DINOSUAR HILL NATURE PRESERVE (ROCHESTER)
Join us in celebrating Earth Day by learning about the impact our everyday choices have. Make an Earth Day resolution. Take part in sustainable activities and upcycled crafts throughout this extended session of nature center open hours.
EARTH DAY @ FOR-MAR NATURE PRESERVE (BURTON)
Join us for our Earth Day pop-up program at For-Mar. During this pop-up program we will have a variety of different earth day inspired stations, including with recycled crafts, live animals and garden fun!
SATURDAY, APRIL 23
GREEN DAY AT BELLE ISLE NATURE CENTER (DETORIT) Green Day is a FREE family event that features outdoor activities, including earth-friendly crafts, nature hikes and opportunities to participate in citizen science initiatives that support clean waterways. Green Day will also feature local conservation specialists, who will illustrate the benefits of green initiatives through an assortment of artistic and educational demonstrations.
EARTH DAY CLEAN UP @ OUTDOOR ADVENTURE CENTER (DETORIT) The Michigan Department of Natural Resources and Outdoor Adventure Center are proud members of the Detroit River Coalition. Each year we participate in their international Earth Day Clean Up effort.Trash bags and latex gloves provided to all volunteers. Dress for the weather.
EARTH DAY HIKES @ DRAYTON PLAINS NATURE CENTER (WATERFORD)
Rec for a FREE hike at Drayton Plains Nature Center in Waterford! There will be two hikes at 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Both will be led by Six Rivers Land Conservancy Stewardship Manager Ian Ableson. Register in advance by emailing info@sixriversrlc.org with your party size, contact information, and which hike you would like to attend.
EARTH DAYEXTRAVAGANZA @ NANKIN MILLS (WESTLAND)
Wayne County Parks is hosting a FREE Earth Day Extravaganza from 12pm to 3pm with crafts, games and nature hikes.
EARTH DAY CELEBRATION @ HOWELL NATURE CENTER
Spend time in nature by hiking through our Wild Wonders Wildlife Park. From 10:00am-2:00pm you’ll find special activity stations along the way to learn more about our planet and how you can live in harmony with wildlife. All activities are included in your day admission to the park!

Celebrate Earth Day with us by discovering ways you can help our world! There will be a series of activities, projects, information, and games to learn about recycling, pollution, native plants, and helping wildlife.

The Earth Day Expo at Monroe Community College is a free event is family-friendly with activities for everyone and includes prize drawings, entertainment, live music, and educational exhibits focused on protecting our planet.
EARTH DAY CELEBRATION @ BURGESS-SHADBUSH NATURE CENTER (SHELBY TOWNSHIP)
Join us as we celebrate our favorite planet, Earth. Meet live animal ambassadors and learn how you can be kind to wildlife. There will also be eco-friendly crafts, educational stations and scheduled guided hikes.
