Detroit Public Schools Community District (DPSCD) is one of Michigan’s largest school districts, complete with diverse and unique academic programs to meet the needs of Detroit families. As you’re planning for summer and fall, here are some things you need to know.

Caring and educating students is a year long commitment at Detroit Public Schools Community District (DPSCD). Even as we’re closing out the 21/22 school year it’s also time to think about fall. DPSCD offers multiple specialty programs that require early application program such at the All Montessori Elementary programs at Edison, Edmonson and Palmer Park Prep and Arts Schools for middle and high school students.

DPSCD’s Montessori Program offers a unique learning experience for students from pre-k to 7th grade. Students are engaged in student-centered learning through hands-on experiences, a focus on social responsibility, and engaged communal learning that promote collaboration, critical thinking and creativity.

Another new early education opportunity opens next fall at Marygrove. The kindergarten to 2nd grade program encourages critical thinking and prepares community-minded young leaders for the 21st century. The campus will also continue its strong partnerships with Starfish Family Services, The University of Michigan School of Education, The Kresge Foundation, and the Marygrove Conservancy.

Summer Learning Experiences

If you need to figure out summer before jumping to fall, Detroit Public Schools Community District’s Summer Learning Experiences offers families and students great options for summer fun. Whether parents are seeking academic enrichment or recreational activities, current students and those enrolling for the fall of 2022 will have an opportunity to participate in academic enrichment in the morning and fun physical activities in the afternoon at various school and community sites throughout the City of Detroit. Academic activities will occur Monday – Thursday in the morning, followed by recreational activities in the afternoon.
