Daily Inspiration Guide for Those at Home with Kids: Music Edition

Girls practice in the school of music. Looking at camera.

Each day, join LittleGuide on a themed adventure full of activities, crafts, nature and games that will help you and your littles have fun at home. Today we’re looking to start the day off on the right note.

8:00 AM –  Wake up with a smile and dance to Happy music – check out this playlist.

9:00 AM – Pull out the crafting materials and make musical instruments.

10:00 AM – Head outside and experience Nature’s Orchestra (you can even download an activity sheet and lesson plan)

11:00 AM – Download a music education app for the kids to play. Mazaam and Mussila and Music Sparkles have good reviews.

12:00 PMThe Detroit Symphony Orchestra has made its Replay station free to the public. Let the kids play with classical music in the background while you make lunch.

1:00 PMHop on Zoom and join Erin Mae’s Sing-A-Long/Play-A-Long at 1:30pm

2:00 PM – The von Trapp family made it through their hard times and so will we. Watch The Sound of Music with Julie Andrews (it’s free on Disney+) or sign up for a free week trial and watch the Broadway production of The Sound of Music Live.

4:00 PM – Get up and move. Cast a kids zumba workout to the tv and dance as a family.

5:00 PMMake chocolate covered musical note treats for dessert.

6: 00 PM – Play music on your porch. The Detroit Symphony Orchestra has launched a #PlayOnYourPorch mission on social media and you can join. Share on social media and tag @detroitsymphoy and @littleguidedetroit

7:00 PM – Read nursery rhymes for bedtime.

8:00 PM – Bedtime! You survived.

We know that times are hard and resources can be scarce. Please note that these activities are simply meant to be a guide to help you fill the day and inspire ideas that fit your family. Try all of the activities, just a couple, or watch movies and cuddle on couch – whatever makes your family feel happy and safe during times of uncertainty is the best thing to do.
