NEW playgrounds and splash pads are coming to Metro Detroit. See what’s happening near you and start making plans to check out the new spaces this summer.

Lily Pad Springs (West Bloomfield)

West Bloomfield’s new 5,500 square foot plash pad includes 4 water slides, 55 gallon dump bucket, and 50 play features. It will be open 7 days a week for 3 separate play sessions. Admission is $4 for residents and $6 for non-residents and opens on June 1st.

 

Oxford Park (Berkley)

The new 6.7 acre park (that is being renamed) will feature a splash pad, play structure, walking path and public restrooms.

 

Normandy Oaks (Royal Oak)

Royal Oak’s Normandy Oaks splash pad is part of a 40 acre park improvement that includes a pavilion with restroom, soccer field, paved walkways and new playground equipment.

 

Jaycee Park (Troy)

The old playset is down and the new one is coming soon at Jaycee Park in Troy.

 

Innovation Hills (Rochester Hills)

Rochester Hills new 110 acre park is already beautiful to explore, and soon there will be a new treehouse playground and sensory garden. This new greenspace is definitely a destination to check out.

 

Shadyside Park (Mount Clemens)

Funds are being raised for a new splash pad at Shadyside Park and it would open to the public in summer 2022. Currently the 41.6-acre park features a picnic pavilion, magic square with ramps for skateboarding, a double basketball court, playground equipment, horseshoe pits, baseball field, fishing facilities, and a handicapped accessible pier with a boat and canoe launch.

 

Lac Sainte Clair Park (St. Clair Shores)

Bring your little pirates to check out the new Treasure Island themed playground. Make it a park hop and try out the hockey-themed playground at Civic Arena and zoo themed playground at Frederick Park.

 

Bay Court Park (Independence Township)

Bay Court Park is replacing the community built wooden play structure with a modern, inclusive space to allow visitors of all abilities to enjoy the space.

 

Lower Huron Woods Creek Playground (Belleville)

By the end of the year, Lower Huron Metropark will be home to a brand new space themed playground and with your library card, you can go and play for free!
