Livonia is my home town and my favorite place to explore. Visit the best family pool, visit a family operated farm, picnic at a historical park and enjoy sweet treats this summer.

Make A Splash @ The Community Pools

Have fun in the sun at Sheldon, Botsford or Clement Circle pools. Clement Circle is our personal favorite and features a zero-entry pool with splash pad features and a brand new playground (free and open to public) in the park. Admission is $9 for adults and $7 for kids who are not residents.

Play With Kids @ Blue Line Farm

You wouldn’t know it when you drive by because it’s your standard two-story house but behind it there’s a barn with goats, pigs, chickens, cats and a guinea pig! Blue Line Farm is lots of fun. Sign up for a farm visit or attend a goat yoga class!

Visit Greenmead Historical Park

Bring a Frisbee and lunch for a picture-perfect picnic at Greenmead Historical Park. The95-acre public park was the 1820s homestead of Michigan pioneer, Joshua Simmons. It includes the original farm complex, Historical Village, and nature trail. Admission is free and it is fun to explore.

Mark your calendar for August 28th when the Churchill Rotary Interact Club and Rotary Club of Livonia AM host the annual Touch-A-Truck event.

Summer Fun Series

Head to the Livonia Recreation Center on Tuesdays at 6:30pm for a free family concert series featuring favorites like School of Rock, Momford and Sons and The Funny Dumplings.

Plan A Park Day

Livonia has some of the best playgrounds and nature trails. Rotary Trails are great for nature exploration, Virginia Matley Trail is great for little legs and Tatigian Nature Preserve is great for a stroll (it’s paved). When it comes to playgrounds there are plenty to choose from but Rotary Park, Beverly Park and Greenwood Park top the list. Dooley Park has mini dinosaurs and is great for younger kids.

Summer Read With the Livonia Public Library

It’s time for summer reading and lots of fun events at the Livonia libraries. Go to a weekly outdoor storytime (or a special one with Doc McStuffins), participate in a Colorful Art Installation, sing and dance with the Music Lady, watch a magic show or show off your parkour skills! Find a full list of activities here.

Be sure to check out the storywalk located behind the Civic Center Library.

Spend A Rain Day @ Roush Car Collection

The Roush Car Collection includes everything from classic Mustangs to speedway race cars and vintage rides of various sorts, it’s a real life collection of ‘hot wheels’. There’s no admission fee and you can drop in Monday – Friday.

Cool Down with a Sweet Treats

Before you leave Livonia, indulge in some sweet treats at the Hand-D-Dip, Coffee + Cream, Ritter’s Frozen Custard or Milkster Nitrogen Creamery.
