It looks like the quarantine will end this month but things will still be different. As we continue to adjust and keep close to home, here are some fun activities for the family.

Have a Festive May Day

Waldorf Schools celebrate the first of May with a May Day festival to welcome spring. The idea is to elevate an ordinary day and make it special, it’s an important concept to consider – particularly during hard times. Start a May Day tradition for your family (here are some activities for home) or pick another day and theme to celebrate. We post inspiration guides daily with popular kid themes to help you find things to do, watch and eat!

Make A Big Deal Out of Mother’s Day

This year will be a Mother’s Day to remember and after two months at home with the kids, taking care of the house, and work/school work on top of it – all mom’s deserve something special. Surprise a mom friend with something special from a call to a meal, we put together a list of 5 ways you can make someone’s day (including FREE options). Then treat yourself. Here are a few ways to relax at home – even with the kids around.

Teacher Appreciation

We have a new found appreciation for teachers these days. May 4th – 8th is Teacher Appreciation Week and a great time to have your child draw their teacher a picture or write a thank you note to their favorite teacher (if you’re still homeschooling, perhaps it’ll be you!).

Celebrate Ramadan

Ramadan is April 23 to May 23 and even if you’re not Muslim, you can introduce your kids to the important holiday with these 4 easy activities. Ramadan Mubarak!

Taco Tuesday

Cino De Mayo is on Taco Tuesday this year and the perfect excuse to set up a taco bar for dinner with home-made Margaritas. Here are a few ideas for a family fiesta.

Go To The Drive-In

USA Hockey Summer Drive-In has long been my favorite evening activity. It’s a fun family night/date night (no babysitter needed when the kids are sleep in the car), that allows you to get out the house and have some fun while safely in your car. BONUS: You can have food delivered to your car too. Due to social distancing drive-ins are opening earlier this year and we’re all about it! Check out our list and find one near you.

Have a Picnic For Memorial Day

The weather’s warming up and social distancing guidelines are relaxing. It may not be the holiday BBQs we’re used to but you can plan a picnic at a park and perhaps include a family member or friend to join and picnic too (you may need to have families sit 6 feet apart).

Plan For The Summer

It’s been a long couple months and we can all use something to look forward to. Start thinking about summer and let your kids pick an activity to look forward to. Although a lot of things are up in the air, we can hope to enjoy splash pads, fireworks, camping (even if it’s in the backyard) and if nothing else there’s always Guernsey’s ice cream.
