It was announced that social distancing guidelines will remain in effect in the United State throughout April. The change in our lifestyle is hard but its important for the health and safety of our families and our community. To help get you through the month, here are some fun activities for the family.

Make A Big Deal Out of Easter

This is not the holiday we’re used to and we can be bummed about it or we can go all out and we’re choosing the latter. Print off our Easter Checklist and start making plans to decorate eggs, have an egg hunt, read Easter books, make up for missing Marshmallow Drops and dress up for Sunday brunch. Oh and don’t forget to order goodies for the Easter basket.

Decorate Your Door

Join the #RainbowsOverMichigan movement and decorate your door with vibrant colors and cheerful messages for your neighbors to enjoy. If you’ve decorated your house, tag us in your pictures or email a picture to [email protected] to be entered to win a Crayola Coloring Art Case.

Goodnight With Dolly

Dolly Parton’s  Imagination Library mails FREE books to children from birth to age five and starting April 2nd she will be doing a nightly book reading live on YouTube at 7pm.

Go To Eastern Market

Eastern Market is open year round and now is no exception. The Market is open for business every Saturday from 8am-2pm with shifted market procedures to meet social distancing requirements. You can also order a Market Food Box for Saturday pick up at your car (quantities are limited and it’s recommended you place your order on Mondays before they sell out).

Celebrate Earth Day

Earth Day is April 22nd and a great time to talk to kids about our other home – planet Earth. Plant a tree, go on a family hike or bike, try a sustainability STEM project and read (or listen to) books about the planet (and ways to save it). Disney’s nature series gives you a kid-friendly, unique look at the planet and wildlife – the Elephant episode released on April 3rd is narrated by Prince Harry’s wife, Meghan Markle.

Plan A Special Day

No school, no friends, missed parties, play-dates and sporting events. As stressful as the current situation is for us as parents, it’s also hard on our kids. We’re just getting through a lot of days (and that IS a victory in itself) but take one day for a win and plan special activities throughout the day that your kids can be excited about. We publish daily inspiration guides to give you ideas for all ages and interests from Frozen and friendship to baseball and under the sea adventures.

BONUS: Have a go-to activity to make any moment special.  The Birmingham Bloomfield Art Center created Children’s Art Activity Kits that contain 9 projects for kids ages 5 and up. Instructions, materials and postage are only $15!

Thank Health Care Professionals

Quarantine life isn’t necessarily easy, but it’s a lot easier than being at the front lines of this crisis. If you are looking for ways to help here are 5 ways you can support health care workers from home.

Family Movie Night

#StayHomeStaySafe and make it a movie night. Since we can’t go to the theatre, the theatre is coming to us. Watch Disney/Pixar’s Onward and Trolls World Tour from the comfort of home – we’ll bring the movie snacks! Enter to win a Movie Night Snacks Gift Tub from LittleGuide Detroit.
