The weather is warming up and it’s time to get back to our favorite family activity – playground hoping! If you’re looking to change up your park routine and try something new, here are a 5 awesome parks in metro Detroit!
Scarlet’s Playground (Commerce)
Scarlet’s Playground is for EVERYONE! The 18,000 barrier-free all-inclusive playground is a must visit for all metro-Detroit families. From big slides to bouncing rides and rainbow tunnels. Kids can make music, climb high, ride the zip lines and race around the merry-go-rounds. The park is free and open to the public, there is plenty of parking and public restrooms are expected to be open at the end of April.

Perfect for littles of all ages, our kids LOVED visiting Sullivan Park. With a zip line, twister merri-go-round, climbing ropes, circular spinners and creative play equipment – it was so cool to see features here that you don’t usually see at playgrounds. Another beauty of Sullivan Park is that there is a dedicated play space for the littlest of kids to enjoy, along with several features to keep your older ones active.

County Farm Park offers 127 acres of playgrounds, gardens, trails, picnic tables and more! The farm-themed playground is perfect for kids of all ages, including slides and structures of all sizes – and plenty of seating for parents to watch from the sidelines. Families can also explore the amazing community gardens overflowing with flower blooms and produce. Or take a walk on the many trails or paved paths, great for strollers and family bike rides too. The park is open every day with free entrance. Bathrooms are onsite and available for use.

The massive treetop themed playground is great for kids who love to climb and be adventurous. There is a parking lot next to the play structure, making it easy to get in and out. Bring your bikes or scooters and let the kids test their skills at the dirt + pump bike tracks across the street at Hawthorne Ridge Recreation Area (32088 Edward N Hines Dr, Westland, MI 48185).

The farm theme playground is fun to navigate with lots of fast slides, a maze, swings and ‘corral’. The highlight was the mini-stone ground the boys loved playing in and throwing down the slide (sandals not recommended). The park has every athletic field you can think of if you’re looking for a place to play. It’s down the street from Rolling Hills Waterpark and Red Oaks Nature Center if you want a complete summer experience – this is it!
