30 THINGS TO DO WITH KIDS IN DETROIT THIS SPRING

Detroit Riverfront

Plan a day trip downtown and start checking these family-friendly activities off your Detroit bucketlist.

Go for a ride

Once you arrive in Detroit, hop on the QLine to travel along Woodward, take the People Mover around downtown or borrow a bike from Wheelhouse Detroit and explore the Riverfront.

Eat outside

Check out the food trucks at Cadillac Square and play some basketball. Try your hand at bocce ball at Ottava Via and take in the twinkling lights on the patio. Head to the Dequindre Cut and grab a bite at the re-purposed shipping containers known as the Freight Yard. Experience the neighborhoods and enjoy a meal at The Villages Bier & Weingarten (West Village) or The Pink Flamingo (North Corktown)

Go to the beach or just find water

Put your feet in the sand at Campus Martius or on Belle Isle Beach. Rent a canoe and explore the Detroit River. Get wet at The Fountains at GM Plaza or the splash pads at Mt. Elliott Park or Palmer Park. Go all in at the Wayne County Aquatic Center.

Learn something new

Experience hands-on fun at the Michigan Science Center, get creative at the Detroit Institute of Arts, learn about Michigan (for FREE) at the Detroit Historical Museum in Midtown and the Dossin Great Lakes Museum on Belle Isle and have outdoor fun inside at the Michigan DNR’s Outdoor Adventure Center.

Watch a movie outside

Sit under the stars and next to the Fisher Building at New Center Park’s family-friendly Friday night movies or hide away at the Trumbull & Porter courtyard for 90s favorites.

Watch a game or play one

Head to the ballpark to watch the Tigers hit the ball or Keyworth Stadium to see the Detroit City Football Club kick one. Get in on the action and try fowling in Hamtramck, arcade games at Pop + Offworld or bowling at the 100 year old Garden Bowl.

Grab a sweet treat

Find your favorite candy at Rocky’s in Eastern Market, soft-serve at Cold Truth or something new at Detroit Water Ice Factory.
