Wednesday, November 11th is Veterans Day. Honor the men and women who have served our country by talking to your kids about friends, family and neighbors who have served in uniform.
Talk About Veterans In Your Family
Most of us have relatives who have served in the military but it may not be something you think of often or have shared with your kids. Use Veterans Day as an opportunity to think of family members who served our country and introduce them to your kids by pulling out pictures, drawing a family tree or giving them a call.
Surprise a Veteran With Treats or an Act of Service
Pull out the rakes and pack up the leaves for a veteran neighbor, drop sweets off at your local American Legion or Veterans of Foreign Wars community hall or send a friend a meal from Michigan Fields. Let your littles get creative and color a picture or write a thank you letter to a veteran and send it to Piquette Square for Veterans in Detroit ( 6221 Brush Street, Detroit, MI 48202). The 150 unit apartment building provides housing to formerly homeless veterans.
