School is back in session and the Detroit Public Community Schools District (DPSCD) is rising to the challenge to make sure kids do well at home and in the classroom by providing students and their families with the resources they need for academic, social and emotional success.

Technology and Family Resource Hubs

DPSCD has multiple Technology and Family Resource Hubs located in key regions throughout the city to provide direct resources and support services to students and families. The Hubs are open from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. and one Hub in each region offers a late day every Wednesday from 10 a.m. – 7 p.m.. A list of all Hub locations as well as hours of operation can be found here.

The Hubs provide students and families with digital device repair, Connected Futures device replacement, general online learning support, medical and mental health support as well as utility assistance and mobile COVID-19 testing. Students who wish to receive a Connected Futures device or a DPSCD loaner device may do so at one of our Hub locations.

If families need tech support from home for their Connected Futures device, they can call 313.865.9800 with questions or concerns about their device or by texting “HELP4CF to (562) 372-6925. For DPSCD Loaner Device support, please call (833) 466-3978 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Grab and Go Meals

Food services are critical to students and their family. Fueling up on nutritious foods helps students succeed and stay focused on schoolwork, that’s why all DPSCD schools offer meal distribution from 9am to 6pm on Mondays and Thursdays. Students receive meals for both breakfast and lunch. Parents can find the complete meal schedule here.

Additional Student and Family Supports

These are difficult times and everyone can use extra support. DPSCD has multiple services available for families and kids in need of assistance. In addition to academic support services, families can also receive mental health services.  Stability, support and self care are important, especially during an ongoing pandemic. Whatever your needs, put 833.466.3978 in your phone and call it to find the following services:

  • Online Learning Help Hotline: 8:30 am – 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday
  • Mental Health Support Line:  5pm – 8pm, Monday through Thursday
  • Homework Hotline: Evening hours, Monday through Friday

Whether face-to-face or online, DPSCD knows that every school day counts for students’ development and success. Stay positive and know that there are options available to fit your family. With more than 100 schools to choose from, DPCSD provides a range of programs and services to support specific needs and wants of students and parents.
