3 Reasons To Visit The Detroit Zoo Before Summer Is Over

It’s always a good time to visit the Detroit Zoo but if you’re looking for a special reason to visit in August here are special events your family will love.
The Detroit Zoo is home to over 2,100 animals and its 125 acres features multiple award winning attractions including the National Amphibian Conservation Center, Great Apes of Harambee and Arctic Ring of Life. Take your littles to race along side the sea otters, walk next to kangaroos, get close up to lions and feed the giraffes. In addition to every day fun, the Zoo hosts special events throughout the year and here are a few you don’t want to miss.
GreenFest 2022 is a two-day weekend festival that includes live music, a sustainable marketplace shopping experience, hands-on activities, nature based yoga sessions, habitat chats, themed photo opportunities and more. GreenFest is about showing what is possible through fun activities and educational displays. You will leave equipped with resources to live greener, take care of the planet and improve your quality of life. GreenFest is FREE with general admission.
Bike Safari: Friday, August 12th
Enjoy an exclusive opportunity to ride your bicycle through the Detroit Zoo and enjoy an after-hours look at your favorite animals. This family-friendly cycling event also includes education stations, discounted carousel rides, themed photo opportunities and more. Bike Safari’s general admission is $28 for adults and $24 for children, Zoo members received additional discounts.
Dinosauria: Ends September 5th
Take a stroll back in time to the perhistoric era where you’ll find 29 life-like animatronic dinosaurs peeking out across 3 acres of the Detroit Zoo.In addition to awesome photo ops, kids will enjoy multiple hands-on fossil dig sites, an educational Predator v. Prey exhibit and unique Dinosaur Gift Shop with Jurassic Outpost apparel. Admission to the exhibit is $6 for all guests ages 2 and older. A Dino Total Experience ticket is available for $13 and includes 4-D theater and train tickets. Members can upgrade for unlimited Dinosauria access for $45.
General admission to the Detroit Zoo is $23 for adults and $19 for kids. We recommend a Family Member that is $127 ($117 for tri-county residents). Learn more here.
