The Henry Ford is one of our favorite places to visit and if you need more reasons to make the trip, here are special events and activities happening this year.
Pro-tip get the membership! A family membership without rides is $185 for 2 adults and kids at household (membership with rides pass is $285) and grants you unlimited visits to the museum and village AND free parking. One venue, one day admission for a family of 4 (ages 5 and older) is $93.50. When you visit twice, it’s paid for itself and you’ll want to visit more than twice.
Apollo: When We Went To The Moon // February 19 – May 8
Launch yourself behind-the-scenes for man’s first steps on the moon, and find out how the space race inspired generations of Americans to reach for the stars. Apollo: When We Went to the Moon is an out-of-this-world glimpse into the cultural, technological and political context of the moon landing. Take small steps on the moon’s surface and giant leaps through actual pieces of the Apollo 11 lunar module. Count down at the command module, take off from an immersive launch experience and defy gravity for a photo in the lunar rover.
Day Out With Thomas // May 13 – 22
Ride, play and stay all day! Thomas the Tank Engine™ is pulling into The Henry Ford. Join the party at the Day Out With Thomas™ Celebration Tour. Rumble down the track aboard Thomas, and meet Sir Topham Hatt™ on a fun-filled springtime adventure in Greenfield Village. Experience wide-eyed, memory-making moments around every corner — magic shows, storytelling, play areas, live music and more.
Heroes & Villains: The Art of the Disney Costume // June 25 – January 1
Using more than 70 original pieces, including ball gowns, sorcerers’ capes, military uniforms, tiaras, and of course glass slippers, the exhibition explores the vision, process, and craft used to create the costumes worn by some of the biggest names in entertainment. Heroes and Villains features costumes from some of Disney’s kindest heroes and toughest villains, as well as insights from designers, photographs, interactives, and a special film.
