All throughout Metro Detroit and downtown Detroit, tree lighting ceremonies are bringing together neighbors and friends alike for holiday festivities, caroling, crafts, and of course, spectacular displays of our finest and tallest trees!

 

TREE LIGHTING CEREMONY

Friday, November 20

@ Downtown Wyandotte

The Tree Lighting will take place, Friday, November 20th at dusk at Sycamore and Biddle Avenue and the 77th Annual Christmas Parade is scheduled for Saturday, November 21st 2020 at 10 am.

 

DETROIT TREE LIGHTING CEREMONY

Friday, November 20

STREAMING

Metro Detroiters can watch WXYZ’s “Light Up the Season” pre-recorded tree lighting special at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 20 from the comfort and safety of their homes. Santa will make a special appearance from the North Pole to help flip the switch on 19,000 lights on the Michigan-grown tree. No public tree lighting event will be held this year at Campus Martius Park.

Tree lighting ceremony at the Historical House followed by lighted Christmas parade from the Historical House, down Park Avenue to Philomene, ending at the Allen Park Community Center.

Santa will arrive in his traditional manner on a Macomb Twp Fire Truck!

Come gather in Downtown Royal Oak to celebrate the open of the Holiday Season at Washington Ave & Fifth Street. The Mayor will be on site to turn on the holiday lights and the city tree. Enjoy the Handbell Choir, Salvation Army Band, refreshments and Holiday Magic at the Farmers Market.

Bring your mask and enjoy a fun-filled outdoor only event. The giant tree will come alive when Santa arrives! Activities include horse & carriage rides, crafts, ice sculpture demos, Christmas caroling and more.

 

HOLIDAY LIGHTED PARADE

@ Downtown Lake Orion

Our first-ever Drive-Thru parade will take place on Saturday, December 5th at 6 pm in Downtown Lake Orion. This year, instead of our myriad of floats parading up Front Street to Broadway through downtown, our participating entrants—draped in holiday lighting—will be positioned along Broadway.

 

FARMINGTON TREE LIGHTING

Watch our Christmas tree in the gazebo being lit online. This will include include messages from city officials in Farmington and Farmington Hills, messages from community leaders, announcement of the Farmington Area Jaycee’s Business and Citizen of the year, announcement of our Holly Days Rally raffle winner, and more!

 

HOLIDAY NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM

Saturday, December 5

Join us at the Wayne Historical Museum for the annual town Christmas tree lighting. We will have Santa for the kids, cookies and hot chocolate, an animal petting farm, carriage rides and more. Come on out for a good old Christmas time in Wayne. The event is no cost and open to all, though donations accepted.

 

MERRY & BRIGHT: LIVONIA’S HOLIDAY PARADE AND TREE LIGHTING

Sunday, December 6

@ Livonia Civic Center

Instead of parade participants making their way past spectators, the spectators will drive past the parade participants while in their own vehicles. The parade participant groups will be stationary along the shorter route, which takes place along Civic Center Drive from Farmington Road to Five Mile Road.
