10 Outdoor Holiday Events In Michigan to Celebrate the Season

The holiday season is officially here and we’re excited for all things that can brighten up our festivities. Bundle up and head outside for a family walk under LED lights at the zoo, on a nature trail or in a historic village at a holiday event happening in Michigan and Metro Detroit.
The Detroit Zoo will be aglow for 40 magical nights with more than five million LED lights illuminating trees, buildings and over 280 sculptures throughout the front half of the Zoo. Experience the magic of the Detroit Zoo in winter as you take in the lights, sights and sounds of the season for guests of all ages.

Starry Lights (Grosse Pointe Shores)
Illuminate your holidays with Starry Lights, an all-new winter light walk at the Ford House, including an immersive and interactive display on the grounds of the estate.
- Dates: November 18 – January 9
- Admission: $12 – $25
Spend an evening touring the Village this holiday season–we’ll turn the lights on for you! Follow twinkling lights from building to historic building. Inside, enjoy festive decorations and explore our Holiday Traditions mini-exhibits.
- Dates: December 22, 23, 29 & 30

HollyDazzle is a magical three-quarter mile outdoor trail featuring more than a dozen lighted Christmas scenes including Santa Claus, Sledding Penguins and Candy Land Castle in a magical winter wonderland walk through at the Renaissance Village.
- Dates: November 26 – December 31
- Admission: $8-$22
Canterbury Village Holiday Stroll (Orion Township)
Enjoy a family stroll through Canterbury Village and experience multiple encounters with characters along a path lit by Red & Green glowing lamp posts and Holiday lights. Stop along the way for a photo opportunity at your favorite scene.
- Dates: November 26 – 28; December 3 -5, 10 – 12, 17-19 & 23
- Admission: $15
Winter Wonder Lights (Rochester):
Winter Wonder Lights transforms Meadow Brook Hall at night into a breathtaking light show featuring music, seasonal treats and holiday magic. Winter Wonder Lights is a self-guided outdoor event featuring unique light displays across the grounds of the estate.
- Dates: November 26- December 30
- Admission: $12 – $22
Holiday Nights in Greenfield Village offers yuletide fun for all ages. Admission includes FREE carousel rides, cooking demonstrations, Carolers and live music performances, Santa and live reindeer, skilled artisans demonstrations, and more!
- Dates: December 3-5, 9-12, 16-23, 26-28
- Admission: $20- $30
Glenlore Trails: Aurora (Commerce)
Stay up past bedtime and take a magical trip to Glenlore Trail’s Aurora. The immersive wintry experience is great for all ages, interactive with story moments and other entertainment.

- Admission: $0 – $25
Enjoy a drive through lights show, a walk thru the zoo and a chance to meet your favorite characters from Laurel’s Princess Parties at Indian Creek Zoo
- Dates: November 12 – January 2
- Admission: $10 – $25
Night of Lights is back with more lights, more activities and more community fun! Take a stroll through Greenmead Historic Park, meet with Santa and Mrs. Claus, enjoy treats in the heated tent and skate on the rink.
- Dates: December 3 – 19
- Admission: $10 per vehicle
