The school year looks different this semester but your kids don’t have to miss out on field trips! Plan an educational and FUN outing for your family this fall.

Tinker, build, fly and play! The Michigan Science Center exhibits teach kids about STEM, Health, and Space and MiSci educators provide hands-on interactive activities at Explainer Stations throughout the museum to help make lessons easily understood.

Get to work on a farm and take a trip to Blake’s Orchard + Cider Mill to u-pick in the field to collect material for at-home S.T.E.M. activities with pumpkins. Field trips are meant to be fun, let the kids play at Barnyard Funland too!

Head to the petting farm to learn and see how animals are cared for and fed. A few of our favorites: Bowers School Farm, Maybury Farm, Kensington Farm Center and Taylor Petting Farm.

Take a walk on the wild side at the Detroit Zoo to see animals from around the world. Learn more about creatures and their habitats with virtual lessons available online for free.

Free field trips are extra fun and admission to the Detroit Institute of Arts is free to residents of Wayne, Oakland and Macomb counties. Get inspired for arts and crafts at home after a tour through the galleries. Find art in your own neighborhood and tour the DIA’s Inside Out project on display in cities throughout metro Detroit.

Celebrate the history, culture and accomplishments of black America and plan a visit to the Charles H Wright Museum of African American History or the Motown Museum in Detroit.

Go under the sea and visit SEA LIFE Michigan to see over 250 species including sharks, rays, seahorses and more in 12 interactive exhibits.

Get inspired and immerse your students in American ingenuity at The Henry Ford. See some of the most iconic inventions and amazing “failures” and learn how they changed the world, explore the past and learn how it relates to today. Travel through history at Greenfield Village during the fall and explore the creative universe of MARVEL through the end of 2020.

Exhibits at the Cranbrook Institute of Science will introduce your kids to chemistry, anthropology, earth science, astronomy, life science, and more.

Learn more about The Parade Company’s fascinating history, explore the 200,000 square-foot storyland of floats and see how award-winning artisans bring them to life each year for the annual Thanksgiving Day Parade.

Michiganders must know about the Great Lakes! Plan a trip to Belle Isle and explore the Dossin Great Lakes Museum to learn about our maritime history.

Break from screen time and take in some fresh air with a self guided nature hike, private visit to the Farmington Nature Center or an Environmental themed Tour at the Ford House.
